The 19-year-old all-rounder hit five fours and three sixes in a dazzling knock of 51 from 27 balls to help England rack up 186-4 in an innings reduced to 17 overs after a delayed start.

Opener Danni Wyatt got the innings off to a flyer with a boundary-laden 48 from 30 balls.

England’s Sarina Wiegman has dedicated her Uefa Women’s Coach of the Year award to Spain, saying they “deserve to be listened to”.

Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales has been widely criticised for kissing forward Jenni Hermoso on the lips following Spain’s World Cup victory over England.

Leicestershire have signed former Pakistan batter Umar Amin for their County Championship run in.

Canada’s Danielle McGahey is set to become the first transgender cricketer to play in an official T20 international.

McGahey has been included in Canada’s squad for a qualifying tournament on the pathway to the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.

Luis Rubiales’ mom taken to hospital on third day of starvation strike

The mother of Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales has been hospitalised after going on hunger strike in protest at the treatment of her son, a local priest has said.

Angeles Bejar locked herself in a church in Motril on Monday.

Rubiales has been heavily criticised for kissing Spain’s Jenni Hermoso on the lips after the World Cup final.

Hermoso said the kiss during the presentation ceremony in Sydney on 20 August was not consensual.

On entering the Divina Pastora church in Motril on Spain’s southern coast, Bejar told Spanish news agency EFE the strike would continue “indefinite, day and night”.

She added the “inhuman and bloody hunt that they are doing with my son is something he does not deserve”.

The priest, who identified himself as father Antonio, told Reuters news agency that Bejar had been taken to hospital in Motril – the town where her son was raised – so had to cancel a scheduled news conference.

England girls’s match charges elevated to match males’s by England and Wales Cricket Board

England’s men and women will be paid the same money in match fees for internationals with immediate effect.

It said women were paid 25% of men’s fees for white-ball and 15% for Tests by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

England captain Heather Knight said the change was “fantastic to see”.

“It’s really important that we continue to drive the women’s game forward,” she added.

George Bartlett: Northamptonshire signal Somerset batter on three-year deal

George Bartlett has scored 395 Championship runs this season at an average of 30.38

Northamptonshire have agreed a three-year contract with Somerset batter George Bartlett, who will join them ahead of the 2024 season.

The 25-year-old has scored almost 3,500 runs across all formats, including eight first-class centuries.

Pressure has been growing on Luis Rubiales from many quarters

Spain’s top criminal court has opened a preliminary investigation into the country’s football federation president Luis Rubiales after he kissed player Jenni Hermoso on the lips.

The prosecutors are looking into whether the incident amounts to a crime of sexual assault.

Rubiales, 46, has been widely criticised after the incident following Spain’s Women’s World Cup final win.

Hermoso, 33, said the kiss was not consensual.

Rubiales was suspended on Saturday by world football’s governing body Fifa.

Brighton & Hove Albion 1-3 West Ham United: James Ward-Prowse scores first objective for Hammers

James Ward-Prowse’s opener was the midfielder’s 50th Premier League goal

West Ham United continued their unbeaten Premier League start by stunning Brighton with a clinical counter-attacking display as James Ward-Prowse scored his first Hammers goal.

The win means West Ham end the day top of the Premier League on goals scored, although Manchester City and Liverpool could both leap above them with wins on Sunday.

Ward-Prowse opened the scoring when he tapped in from two yards out in the 19th minute after good work from Michail Antonio.

Jarrod Bowen added a second for the visitors in the 58th minute, bringing down Said Benrahma’s cross before poking the ball into the corner.

And though Brighton continually dominated possession and territory, Bowen set up Antonio to drill a shot into the corner for the away side’s third in the 63rd minute.

Luis Rubiales: Spain teaching employees resign over Hermoso kiss row

Spain’s entire coaching staff from their World Cup win, except for manager Jorge Vilda, have resigned over the Luis Rubiales row.

Assistant managers Montse Tome, Javier Lerga and Eugenio Gonzalo Martin, along with physio Blanca Romero Moraleda and goalkeeper coach Carlos Sanchez, have all quit.

Six others involved with the national side at various age levels have also resigned.

Spanish FA president Rubiales was suspended on Saturday by Fifa after kissing forward Jenni Hermoso on the lips following the Women’s World Cup final victory over England in Sydney.

In a statement, the coaching staff said: “Those named below express their firm and resounding condemnation of the conduct shown by the RFEF president.

Liam Trevaskis: Leicestershire signal Durham spin bowler from 2024

Liam Trevaskis has taken 34 wickets in first-class cricket and made seven half-centuries

Leicestershire have agreed to sign Durham spin bowler Liam Trevaskis on a three-year contract.

The 24-year-old left-armer, who was born in Carlisle, will move to Grace Road for the 2024 county season.

He made his debut for Durham in 2017 and has taken 125 wickets for the club in all formats of the game.

Trevaskis will be a like-for-like replacement for fellow spinner Callum Parkinson, who agreed a deal with Durham in June to start next summer.

He has only played two of Durham’s 11 County Championship games this summer, which director of cricket Marcus North acknowledged was a factor in his decision.

“Opportunities in red-ball cricket have been limited for Liam this year and in order to play more first-class cricket he has decided to make the move to Leicestershire,” the Australian said.

Cops proceed pursuit of burglars and thieves : Cayman Information Service

(CNS): Police arrested two men this week in relation to attempted break-ins of cars and homes in both George Town and West Bay. One of the men was bailed while the second remains in custody as police continue their efforts to round up these opportunistic offenders. The RCIPS is also asking anyone who is the victim of a break-in or witnesses one to contact their local police station.

“We continue to conduct targeted proactive patrols in key areas in response to the recent increase in reports of thefts from vehicles in order to deter such activities and apprehend those responsible,” said Inspector Ian Yearwood. “Even though these arrests have been made, we are still encouraging the public to take the necessary precautions and remove any valuables from their vehicles where possible or otherwise secure them properly.”
